SOTUDEF, a story that began in 1946

The Société Tunisienne de Défoncement (SOTUDEF) was created in 1946, just after WW2.

The phylloxera had destructed all the Tunisian vineyards during the war and the vine-growers preferred to root up their vines to plant them again in 1947. During this period, until the end of years fifty, the SOTUDEF offers to the vine industry its experience in digging up to prepare the soils for the new vineyards.

From 1959, SOTUDEF integrated to its activities the domain of earthwork, civil engineering speciality.
With the building of Konya Airport, in Turkey, SOTUDEF became the leader in soil preparation. The company participates, from then, to all the major Tunisian projects, linked to the construction of highways, roads or railroads, barrages…

In 1975, SOTUDEF added a new activity and started the exploitation of phosphate mines in Gafsa, in Tunisia. At the same time, the company is participating to the construction of roads./p>

In 1994, for the first time, SOTUDEF built by itself, without the help of a foreign company, its first barrage in Touiref, in Tunisia.

In March 2008, SOTUDEF became part of the MED BUSINESS HOLDING Group.

Since 1946, SOTUDEF has conducted more than 100 projects. The last in date was BRICORAMA Tunisia where the company took in charge the earthwork as well as the road network.

Since 1946, the SOTUDEF experience is always growing. From the financing to the maintenance, from the conception to the construction, the company knows how to bring innovating and acute solutions to its customers.

SOTUDEF, confident in the future

Rigor, prudence, will to acquire new share markets and improvement of human conditions of work can resume the SOTUDEF objectives for the next years. A Board and an Executive Committee, composed of the managers, but also of independent administrators, care after the company’s health.

SOTUDEF wants to develop its activities not only in Tunisia, but also in neighbour countries (Algeria, Libya) and in sub-Saharan Africa.

At the same time, SOTUDEF, in compliance with its human values, wants to diminish the hardness of the work, reinforce the security and the quality of execution thanks to the improvement of the performance of its materials and equipment.
